Who would want to heal if it is so much work?

The truth about your soul's wounds and how it is sometimes not an easy ride to inner peace.

I hear you. Whenever you take initiatives, it seems like you feel more awful than you have felt before. I would like to provide some insights on this as a psychologist and Reiki Healer.

First of all, I understand that you probably feel like you are the only one that feels this way. You probably get recommendations all the time from friends, family or colleagues and the result seems to be the same: It just does not change the way you feel. Sometimes it may even seem like you feel far worse. I get it, this is incredibly discouraging. And as a professional I can say that it is indeed not the way everyone feels, but some do and I would like to explain why this is.

When it comes to our wellbeing, there are many factors that influence how we feel. You might have looked into possible physical explanations why you do not feel great (it is great to start with the basics and consider a cleanse of the body overall to make sure that you are reset properly). But you notice that it is often your thoughts and feelings that seem to take a life of their own without you seemingly being in control of how negative they can become. Feelings and thoughts can even trigger reactions from your body: Think of stressful thoughts that can cause a higher heart rate, sweaty hands, a dry mouth, you might feel like you need to use the bathroom more often… Overall this can cause great discomfort. In a worse case, it could result in panic attacks and more severe psychological issues.

Our energy (like our body) needs a reset too. It actually needs resets more often than you might think. But in reality, most of my clients do not go to Reiki sessions as regularly as they would need.

Now, those clients, who have the same struggle like you, they present with trauma that goes back several lifetimes. I know this sounds a little new. But take a moment to reflect: Didn’t you feel this way for a long time now? If an event worsened it significantly, aren’t you surprised that it had this big of an influence on your wellbeing? Consider for a moment that you already had the “readiness” to be pushed off that energetic edge due to pre-existing blockages and old karma.

Psychotherapy is important and a great tool. It is however limited to issues towards previous lifetimes. When I work with clients, Reiki allows me to do past life regressions, reconnect energetic centres (chakras), align them into balance, open energetic blockages, resolve old karma (provided it is for your higher good to be resolved) and look into what holds you back in your life energetically (in other words: I might see hints on energetic leaks, energy vampires, reasons to why a chakra is drained or disconnected or hurt).

Science can observe that Reiki sessions are helpful to people who suffer from stress, anxiety or other psychological pressure. But science is not yet able to measure Reiki or quantify it in any way or explain it. This might change in the future. For now, I can only encourage you to try it and see what happens.

You might wonder if Reiki will make you feel better after every single session. It might. But again, if you have issues from previous lifetimes too, your healing journey will take a little longer and feel more intense compared to others. Bear with me before you throw away your phone or tablet, you’re reading this article on…

The journey might be more intense for you. But the grass is greener on the other side. Imagine it like this: Those stagnant energies sat with you for God knows how long. They are basically on the tip of their toes, waiting for you to let a professional remove those energies that piled up for so long.

A Reiki session could feel to you as if someone had stirred the pot a lot. A client once even told me that it felt like surgery on his energetic field. This piece is even out of the hands of the Reiki Healer. The forces that free you from the blockages and stagnant energy are the ones your higher-self picks. The Reiki Healer simply channels the energy for you that your higher-self invites into your earthly being. It even picks the extent, intensity and timing. Reiki has its own intelligence and knows where to flow and what to do where it is needed. Going back to the possibility that you might have stagnant energy from multiple lifetimes, this means that the sessions will feel more like work rather than relaxation. Ask your Reiki Healer in that case to place more protective and calming symbols on you while you go through these intense periods of cleansing. And (most importantly!) consider to learn Reiki yourself. Reiki can be used every day for any situation. Some onions have more layers to be uncovered and if your onion is a big one, bring Reiki into your day-to-day life and see how happy and magical your life becomes.

Here is a list of my favourite actions to pinpoint what you could do for your wellbeing, for example:

1. Keep trying new things and keep observing how you felt before and how you felt afterwards. Experience will help you understand what resources you can keep as an ace up your sleeve on rainy days.

2. Be very cautious around spiritual hygiene:

- When you sleep, make sure that only people that match your energy are in your energetic field.

- Do not give possessions of yours away to people who are toxic. You build an energetic bridge when doing so.

- If you donate possessions of yours, cut your energetic cord to them before you give them away.

- Learn protective practices and do them whenever you enter new circles or circles that could (potentially) have toxic people in their midst.

- Move your energy every day. Energy wants to move. Anything that moves your body, your thoughts and your spirit help keep your energy moving. This means you can take walks, work out, do creative work, observe creative work (such as going to a show), take part in a Reiki session or practice Reiki yourself…

- If you feel down, go to an energy worker that will specifically cleanse your energetic field.

- Make sure that your space is energetically cleansed. If you live above or near a cemetery or near historically brutalised soil, hire a professional to heal the earth in that area.

3. Practice to sit with the discomfort and communicate with that feeling in an appreciative way. Avoid giving this feeling a condescending nickname. If you want to name it, call it something neutral or loving. Clients of mine called their discomfort “my alert buddy” or “guardian angel” which helps for this feeling to expose why it is presenting itself.
Just to clarify: Yes, we can talk to our feelings like we talk to a person. In this case we simply do a sort of role play where we say what the feeling would respond. I would get started with “Hello, welcome old friend. Tell me more about what lead you here” and see what your first thought is what the feeling of discomfort would respond to you. You can even do it by your own when writing into your journal. In that case it has a touch of writing a script. This creative exercise also activates your subconscious.

4. Discuss what you could find out when observing your discomfort with a professional (a psychologist or psychotherapist or counsellor). Find out if there are patterns when you feel this discomfort and when you feel particularly better.

5. Keep meeting people. In case you just went through a purge of friends (which is very common throughout a healing journey as we expose toxic people more easily), a short conversation with the cashier will do. We do not have to have deep connections every single day. But avoid days when you do not speak a word to anybody. Make sure that you at least go to your corner store and have a little kind, respectful conversation with someone there.

6. Familiarise yourself with your energy level. When is it that you feel tired? Most of us do not listen to the smaller alerts of our whole system whenever we actually need a break. The 8-hour workday is not at all appropriate towards standard human concentration span. Many studies show this for a long time now and the corporate world still doesn’t make appropriate changes towards reducing standard work hours.

Take your breaks when you learned how your system alerts you. Do not ignore those signals and prioritise your own health. I know this seems like an impossible task in some (work) environments, but start with changes that are within your control.

Healing is not necessarily about feeling great after every single session or intervention that you take. Sometimes it takes far longer than we expect. But this can mean that you will learn far more than other people, not only about yourself, but about healing itself. It can also mean that you will deep dive into past lives of yours, which is one of the most interesting experiences in the realm of spirituality.

You can do it. I believe in you and am massively proud of you.
